Installing Vst Plugins On External Hard Drive
- Mac OS X users: From within Studio One n avigate to Preferences/Options/ Locations/VST Plug-ins Click on the Add button, and specify the location of your plug-in. You can also drag-and-drop any folder from the Explorer/Finder into the Locations list in Studio One.
- Cubase 9 will sometimes refuse to recognize a VST plugin if both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions are installed. In order to fix this, you can remove or delete the 32-bit VST plugins.
- I thought of backing up my old device and transferring everything to the new one, or simply moving the 'VST programs' file from one to the other, or starting from scratch and installing from original website. It looks like the default path for Ableton is: C:Program FilesSteinbergVstplugins. However, I'm using an external drive to hold all of my VST instruments.
Will installing to the external cause any issues in Ableton, or is it fine as long as I confirm that path once Ableton is installed?I haven't used a Mac in 20 years, but depending on what kind of VST you're trying to run, it may just be a simple question of having the actual samples on the external hard drive and having your DAW or VST plugin recognize the filepath.
